A large solar flare event was confirmed on Tuesday, November 11, at 19:04 JST. (10:00AM UST)
This event resulted in multiple observations of large-scale coronal mass ejections (CMEs) directed toward Earth. Some of the ejected coronal gas has already reached the vicinity of Earth, and additional coronal gas is predicted to arrive and pass through Earth within the next 1 to 2 days. This event may cause disturbances in the near-Earth space environment, ionosphere, and geomagnetic field. Potential impacts include increased errors in high-precision positioning using GPS, interference with shortwave communications, and operational effects on satellites.
